Objectives

The main aim of our project was to develop key skills in students from the four schools, who come from "disadvantaged" backgrounds in various respects (immigration, unemployment, rural areas). Among these skills, we identified the development of students' citizenship through eco-responsible practices, the development of communication skills during the project between the various project participants around the renovation of the 4L, and raising awareness of technological innovation and science among the vocational training public.

Background

Our French partners' students come from a rural area, while our Belgian students come from a region with a high level of immigration (EAFC Uccle) and a high unemployment rate (Jemappes). All had little opportunity to open up to European mobility and the cultural and historical diversity of European countries. This project, and the rally that will follow, enable them to meet this need. The skills developed by the students in the course of this project are also aimed at improving their integration into the world of work, using a project-based pedagogy, which enables us to raise the profile of qualifying teaching on the one hand, and to raise students' awareness of scientific innovation on the other. What's more, the professional skills developed during the project fit in perfectly with the training standards of the various sections concerned, both in France and in Belgium. Finally, our 4 establishments wanted to raise their students' awareness of the environmental impact of their work, and this was achieved through various operations (waste sorting, recovery of materials/use of new equipment, etc.).
