Objectives

The objectives we sought to achieve by implementing this project were multiple and focused on the overall development of students. First of all, we aimed to promote the integration of people with specific needs within the student community. By establishing a consortium between peers and between European countries, we encouraged a collaborative approach which would allow students to appreciate and value individual differences, particularly those of people with specific needs. The creation of joint activities, such as the production of a play, made it possible to reinforce the feeling of inclusion and to highlight the talents of each person. At the same time, we wanted to raise awareness among adolescents of the harmful consequences of overconsumption. We have designed educational activities and concrete projects to illustrate the environmental impacts of overconsumption. Through visits to local ecosystems in each participating country, students were able to see the significant differences in approaches to recycling, thereby contributing to awareness.

Background

The main need we identified was the fact that students sometimes seem to forget that individual happiness is intrinsically linked to the well-being of society as a whole. To answer this, we have set up a consortium between peers and between European countries. This innovative approach aimed to promote mutual understanding despite cultural and individual differences, thus transforming "disabilities" into positive assets. Another need we targeted was students' lack of contact with their environment, revealing a lack of understanding of the ecosystems close to them. To address this, each group of students in the different countries had the opportunity to visit various local ecosystems. This experience allowed students to become aware of the differences between these environments and to develop a deeper connection with the nature that surrounds them by taking actions to protect it. In summary, our motivation for participating in this project was to create meaningful learning opportunities, promoting intercultural understanding, positive inclusion of so-called “different” students, and increased awareness of nature.
