The objective of this project was: Staff members learn broadly and in depth about innovative strategies for professional learning of teachers within Europe. They learn about: 1 the actual state of play; 2 supporting evidence on the actual state of play; 3 how to adapt what they learn in the practice of DHOS Brugge.
DHOS Brugge HIVO West-Vlaanderen organises professional learning for teachers in school education. They organise a three years lasting course. During year 1 the focus is on 'vision', during year 2 the focus is on 'mastery' and during year 3 the focus is on 'leadership'. The needs and challenges of DHOS Brugge HIVO West-Vlaanderen are to know how to optimize the 3 years course in a qualitative way based on evidence. We monitor the quality through 4 indicators: Indicator 1: how to organise the course in a qualitative way; Indicator 2: how to realise a qualitative curriculum; indicator 3: how to apply qualitative strategies for professional learning; indicator 4: how to support the learning of the students in a qualitative way. This project focuses on indicator 3 namely 'how to apply qualitative strategies for professional learning. We wanted to learn how similar providers of professional learning for teachers organise the professional learning. Through courses and job shadowing, we collected valuable information for DHOS Brugge. We succeeded in realising the validation of the learning of our students with credits for our three years course and collaborate with AERES Wageningen to organise a professional master course.
