Objectives

In this project 'A broadened perspective on European healthcare and education', four objectives were actively pursued. Firstly, caregiving, pedagogical, and psychological skills were optimized through practical internships and field explorations within a European context. Secondly, we aimed for this European learning mobility context to contribute to motivated career choices. Contacts with Finnish institutions and discovering one's own identity before, during, and after the mobility experience facilitated reflections and discussions on academic and career choices, as well as future visions. Thirdly, the focus was on addressing sustainability within different institutions. Students compared differences in sustainability policies between Finnish institutions and Inspirocollege, and some good practices were implemented in our own school. Lastly, a critical examination of various aspects of healthcare and upbringing was crucial to gather necessary information for their integrated project. Additionally, a comparison of healthcare and education policies between Finland and Belgium was central to this process.

Background

The Inspirocollege is a small-scale, Catholic educational institution that primarily aims to provide education to students aged 12 to 18. Our school offers programs in various fields (sciences, language and culture, economics and society, and welfare). This project is part of the Health and Welfare sciences program in the third grade. Health and Welfare Sciences is a technical program in which students apply the knowledge they gain during their classes in subjects such as psychology and pedagogy, health and welfare, applied biology, and the seminar in the form of an internship. This program can be chosen in the 5th and 6th year of secondary education and aims to prepare students for further studies in healthcare, welfare, education, etc. The Inspirocollege aims to provide education in a multicultural context as a small-scale school situated in a green environment. Ultimately, as a school, we believe in creating a familiar environment for young people, enabling them to develop their talents to the fullest extent.
