Objectives

Our students come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, but have one thing in common: they seize their second chance at a diploma SE to strengthen their position on the labor market. We see our role as CVO not only in training and certification, but also want to prepare them for the labor market and for lifelong learning. In that we see the enormous added value that an internship abroad can offer. That is because through an internship abroad, our 'secondary education diploma'-students acquire international and professional knowledge and strengthen their international competences. That is: * During that internship, students work on their INTERNATIONAL/INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCIES, including their cultural (self-)knowledge, flexibility and resilience and communicative competences. * This internship will allow them, even more than an internship in Flanders, to function independently and to show creativity. These 21ST CENTURY SKILLS are eagerly sought after in the job market. * In addition, during the internship they can place their FIELD IN AN INTERNATIONAL CONTEXT and experience the CULTURAL ASPECT of the discipline. In short, it creates an enriched CV for our students, which will only increase their chances on the labor market.

Background

GO! CVO Antwerp is a Center for Adult Education of about 11,500 LUCs, about 400 employees and about 52 teaching places across the province of Antwerp. Our more than 60 courses vary from NT2, courses for personal and professional development (languages, photography, fashion ...) to diploma-oriented courses (formerly TKO) and are offered in day and evening classes. This project was developed within the vocationally-oriented programs within the Diploma-Oriented Education profile (formerly TKO). Although the project was designed for adult sales students, we were able to open up the target audience to other vocational training courses. GO! CVO Antwerp is the result of a merger of several CVOs. CVO Antwerp 1.0 has 21 years of experience in internationalization. With this project, however, it is the first time that the organization has ventured into international student internships. The project was therefore written out as a testing ground two years ago. In addition, a lot of expertise has been lost due to personnel changes and an inactive period during the pandemic. The current team has made great efforts to bring this project to a successful conclusion.
