The participation in the project has great benefits and a positive influence on education and research. As we strongly believe that the experience, competences and knowledge within one university are insufficient to meet the increased complexity of world issues, the participation in the KA131 programme is vital to enhance its network used for international collaboration in the fields of education and research. By experiencing different educational systems and environments, the student’s perspective on education can change and participation can boost their academic profile and employability. The programme allows exchange of students and staff with partner institutions in Europe in a structured and well-managed way, while receiving financial support. It furthermore allows our staff members to share their experience with other universities and fosters cultural understanding, language proficiency and personal growth. An update of the VUB’s quality framework for exchange was put in place in 2022. By having this framework, we make sure that our students are able to graduate with an international mindset, tolerant for diversity and understanding towards an international and multicultural work environment in Brussel, Belgium and Europe.
