Objectives

The main goal was to introduce AR into education to improve spatial awareness among vulnerable learners. The project aimed to enhance students’ learning outcomes, train teachers to effectively use AR in their lessons, and support school leaders in integrating AR into their schools. It sought to make education more engaging, accessible, and aligned with modern technological demands by using AR to replace traditional materials, increase student motivation, improve teamwork skills, and better prepare students for the job market. Additionally, it aimed to offer sustainable digital learning strategies, professionalize teaching practices and foster international cooperation among educational institutions.

Background

The SAVLAR project was applied for to address pupils’ poor spatial awareness, critical for understanding technical concepts like building plans. Students raised in a 3D world often struggle with 2D models, so introducing 3D technology, especially AR, offers a solution. AR, accessible through common devices, enhances comprehension by layering virtual elements onto reality. The project aims to improve learning outcomes, support vulnerable learners, and better prepare students for the job market. It also addresses the need to professionalize teachers in using AR effectively and helps schools implement AR as an innovative tool for education and distance learning, while fostering international cooperation.
