Objectives

The main goal of this project was to empower youth workers and promote children’s rights by providing them with pragmatic tools on this matter. By creating an educational toolkit, freely accessible online, we aimed to provide innovative and accessible materials for non-formal education on children's rights. Additionally, we created six different self-paced online learning programmes that focus on children's rights and are in line with the toolkit categories. To share the results of the project, we created the All Children, All Right(s) toolkit webpage which hosts all created materials. Through this project, we also wanted to make these tools accessible to many youth workers. By providing professional resources, we also want to encourage young people facing youth unemployment to teach themselves and increase their potential to find a job afterwards. Finally, this project will also help partners in this partnership to train new staff and volunteers in their organisation, making it even more interesting for youth workers to explore the toolkit to train themselves. By realising the two project results, we think we achieved the original set objectives in this project.

Background

The aftermath of COVID-19, the intensifying effects of climate change and the disastrous consequences of conflicts have caused a decline in respect for children’s rights in the last decade. According to the last KidsRights Index for 2022 there has been no significant progress in the standards of children’s rights across the world over the last decade. Unfortunately, other figures only confirm the above. About 1 in 4 children is at risk of poverty or social exclusion within the EU, whereas 357 million children are still living in extreme poverty worldwide. And the path ahead is full of challenges, as climate change poses a huge threat to the future of the world’s children, as close to 1 billion children are at extremely high risk of being seriously affected. Mobile School recognises the need for youth workers to adopt a comprehensive view of children’s rights, and to be trained in methods and tools on how to effectively apply the values in their work with children. Furthermore, we aimed to provide youth workers with online training on children’s rights on how to cooperate with professionals such as police and teachers, who have a high level of expertise in their field of work but might be unaware of the principles of youth work.
