Our efforts were focused on enhancing the key competences of the school leadership: management skills, improvement of the learning and communication environment, motivating techniques for teachers to collaborate at school and to participate in European professional communities to exchange good teaching practices, to develop and implement projects. The teachers in the three levels of education – primary, lower and upper secondary – had to upgrade their teaching methods to a modern innovative level, to master their soft skills for communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking and also their language competences, to gain knowledge and creative methods for teaching literature in foreign languages, culture and traditions and also Entrepreneurship, as a majot necessary skill of this century, to acquire good practices for ensuring equal access of each student to the learning content. Last, but not least, all the participants had to pass on the acquired knowledge to their co-workers in this way enhancing the overall capacity of the organization.
The name „Positive school environment with innovative teachers and motivated students”, which we have chosen for this project speaks for itself what the vision of the school is, what goals we have set and what we desire to improve. The leadership team tries to continuously change and modernize the school environment. However, participating in this project, we want not only to make it more modern but also to change it into a more positive and motivating so that the students – the so called “digital natives” - come to school willingly, with the desire to stay and learn. They live and study in a different way from the previous generations. Therefore, they need an innovative environement and teaching methods to be able to acquire skills, which are vital for building a career in the information society. The school team, which implemented the project was chosen by the leadership of the school in their continuous effort to improve the teachers’ qualification in a few directions: to make them facilitators of a modern teaching and learning process,; to ispire them to be the creators of extracurricular activities, which contribute to the process of forming the personalities of the successful future European citizens of XXI century.
