Objectives

The most important goal of the project was training teachers in creating educational scenarios for the formation of digital and media literacy in students. Children need systematic digital media literacy training in school that helps children develop critical thinking skills, understand how different media messages are formed and what their goals are, recognize misinformation and fake news, take advantage of from the wealth of information to learn, educate and develop throughout their lives. Along with the listed challenges, teachers have developed their digital skills for the hybrid learning that will be the "new normal". After the trainings, the teachers have digital skills to be digital creators of educational content, they know tools to facilitate teaching. Sharing the experience with other teachers from the school led to the multiplication of the effect of these trainings.

Background

As the national curricula do not offer additional training in digital and media literacy, we decided that in today's digital world it is necessary for the school and teachers to create their own program to train students in media literacy and combating fake news. Six teachers were trained in internationally recognized training providers and after the return created with other teachers a school program on digital media literacy and combating fake news in the form of developed lessons. We have focused on media literacy in all subjects, as is evident in the lessons and activities developed to increase internet safety. Our school is recognized as a Microsoft school, all communication goes "through the cloud", that's why digital safety is very important.
