The situation of young people in the labour market is a major challenge for the European Union. Many young people find it difficult to find quality employment, which seriously hampers their transition to self-sufficiency. Despite a fall in youth unemployment in most Member States since the peak in 2013, it remains a serious problem: in 2016, 4.2 million young Europeans failed to find a job, and the percentage facing long-term unemployment remains high. The teams of partner organisations in this project believe that there is a need for active youth policies in education and career guidance, as well as activities that address building and improving employability skills. Recognising the depth and importance of the youth unemployment problem, we implemented a project aimed at increasing employability and successful integration of young people into the labour market. In the framework of the implementation of this youth exchange, activities of different nature were conducted - lectures and discussions, simulation and role-play presentations and workshops, practical exercises, motivational meetings, individual and collective performance of the participants. The implementation of these activities was aimed at achieving the main objective of the project: the acquisition of pre-vocational guidance skills to enable young people to become drivers of their development in terms of education, training, integration into the labour market and professional life. Through the implementation of all planned activities, the partners from Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Romania managed to achieve the set project objectives, namely: - Improved the knowledge and skills of young people in relation to existing employment opportunities; - The joint work generated the achievement of a flexible mix of knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the requirements of the market economy; - Increased skills and competences of exchange participants related to job search, finding and applying for jobs; - Ensuring appropriate skills and competences to develop self-employment; Through the implementation of this project, we were able to help disadvantaged young people to acquire key competences in the field of youth employment and social integration. Through the successfully implemented project activities aimed at creating conditions for successful professional realization and personal development, we were also able to achieve the sub-objectives of the project, namely: - Raised the awareness of young people about the problems of youth unemployment and the ways, methods, tools and institutions to deal with it; - Participants in the project developed a set of skills and competences for employment - "soft", "key", "hidden", "career management skills"; - Encouraged entrepreneurial and creative thinking in young people with social disadvantage; - Youth built capacity for active citizenship; The complex outcome of the project activities led to a positive change and gradation in the perceptions, intentions and future citizenship behaviour of the young people involved. In this sense, through the implementation of this youth exchange we were able to respond to their needs, namely: - Disadvantaged young men and women acquired new knowledge, skills and competences related to enhancing their adaptability and competitiveness; - Project participants increased their confidence in their own strengths and opportunities to develop their potential; - The activities helped young people to develop their capacity for entrepreneurial and creative thinking; In the course of the project, modern and innovative support and training methods were used to enable disadvantaged young people to develop in practice relevant skills, knowledge and competences suitable for the European labour market. Unemployment and inactivity among the younger generation have a high cost and require targeted policies. Through our work, we have been able to help young people, in particular those at risk of exclusion from the labour market and those facing barriers to starting a first job or finding a new one, to acquire the knowledge, skills and competences needed for employment and social integration. The results achieved by the implementation of this project are directly in line with the priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme, namely: - Improving the employability of young people in the European labour market; - Promoting the principles of active citizenship among young people in general and their European citizenship in particular.
