The project addressed the digital challenges faced by adults 55+ in the post-COVID19 era. Focused on transnational collaboration, the project aimed to strengthen the capacity of organizations working with adults. Key objectives included creating gamified online training content to enhance digital skills and fostering active engagement among older adults. The approach involved virtual cooperation, online experience exchange, and the development of interactive gamified learning materials. By prioritizing gamification, the training content aimed to be innovative, informative, engaging, and accessible to older adults with varying digital literacy levels. Outcomes aimed at improving the quality of partners' work, exchanging experiences in gamified content development, increasing participation in training, and enhancing the digital skills of adults aged 55 +. Pilot trainings refined content, and dissemination efforts aimed to share knowledge widely. This was a collaborative effort to empower older adults, ensuring their digital resilience and capabilities and through this transnational initiative we sought to have a lasting impact on both participating organizations and the target group, fostering adaptability in the digital age.
The project application stemmed from a deep understanding of societal shifts, notably the rise in life expectancy and the transformative influence of COVID-19. Focused on the changing demographic landscape, it aimed to tackle urgent issues linked to ageing, digitalization, and the specific hurdles confronting older individuals. Post-pandemic, the swift rise of digitalization was apparent, affecting aspects like work, care, banking, and social interactions. Challenges emerged, including digital exclusion, heightening dependence, social isolation, and loneliness, notably among older individuals. The project presented a compelling case for an inclusive digital education initiative tailored for older and elderly individuals. The outlined objectives aimed to enhance accessibility to online learning content, encourage digital training attendance in locations where older individuals reside, harness non-formal and informal learning opportunities, and provide playful training for fundamental digital skills. The overarching goal was to bridge the digital age gap and empower older individuals to navigate the digital landscape effectively, ensuring their active participation and resilience in the evolving societal paradigm.
