Objectives

By implementing the project, our primary goals were: Develop Educational Resources: We sought to create an innovative e-learning platform to support the development and transferability of training course contents. This platform serves as a valuable resource for stakeholders seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills within the Silver Economy. Promote Training and Innovation: Our objective was to deliver integrated training courses tailored to the needs of companies, NGOs, and local governments involved in the Silver Economy. These courses focus on aligning businesses with new technologies, promoting innovative approaches to social services, and driving adoption of supportive measures for healthy aging. Facilitate Collaboration and Visibility: We aimed to establish an Innovative Cluster for the Silver Economy, bringing together companies, service providers from various sectors such as Information Technology, Welfare, Health & Care, Tourism, Leisure/Sport, and Education and local governments. This cluster enhances collaboration among relevant actors and provide visibility to stakeholders within the Silver Economy.

Background

A report of the European Commission highlights that by 2070, 30.3% of the population is projected to be aged 65 years or older and 13.2% is projected to be aged 80 years or older. The Green Paper on Ageing issued by the European Commission in January 2021 reports that the silver economy is expected to grow by about 5% a year from EUR 3.7 trillion in 2015 to EUR 5.7 trillion in 2025 and therefore it will open up new job opportunities in many sectors. The needs addressed by the ARGENTUM project are multifaceted. Firstly, there's a lack of awareness about the silver economy among both private and public entities. Secondly, there's a need to foster collaboration and cooperation between various stakeholders including researchers, policymakers, businesses, educators, local governments, and civil society. Thirdly, there's a necessity to create a favorable environment for the development of the silver economy. By addressing the aforementioned needs, the ARGENTUM project aims to transform the challenge of an aging population into an opportunity for societal and economic development.
