Climate change and environmental degradation threaten global employment and sustainable development. Combined with globalization and rapid technological advancement, there's a need to rethink labor market demands and employee qualifications. Current VET curricula are outdated, leading to a lack of well-trained staff and specialists for the green economy. The project aims to modernize VET curricula to meet these new demands, creating personnel capable of supporting green policies and a fully green economy. Key objectives: 1. Studying workforce needs: Addressing the skills shortage that limits the green economy transition, ensuring curricula reflect new job profiles and higher qualification requirements. 2. Transnational educational content sharing: Fostering active cooperation between VET institutions and green economy employers to ensure a trained workforce and meet environmental challenges. 3. Increasing organizational capacity: Enhancing the participating organizations' ability to address environmental issues and establish themselves as centers for green job training. This involves creating a network for resource sharing and collaboration with green economy experts.
We applied for the project to address key needs in vocational education and training for the green economy. The project aimed to combat environmental degradation by integrating sustainability into VET curricula, aligning with EU green policies like the "European green deal". It addressed the skills gap in green professions by developing new curricula focused on relevant skills and modernizing existing programs to meet current economic and environmental challenges. Teacher training was essential, as many educators lacked the resources to deliver updated curricula. The project provided extensive training to equip them with modern teaching methods and sustainability concepts. Additionally, it fostered collaboration among VET institutions and industry partners by establishing a resource-sharing network. To raise awareness about green skills and opportunities, the project organized seminars and dissemination activities. Specifically, it developed four curricula: Aquaponics system designer, Autonomous vehicle fleet manager, Green building designer, and Virtual reality travel consultant, each addressing specific industry needs. Overall, the project aimed to prepare students for green economy careers and promote sustainable development.
