Background

The decision to apply for this project was driven by the urgent need to address the significant challenges faced by young people, particularly those living in rural areas, across Europe. The last decade has been characterized by slow economic growth and high youth unemployment rates, with rural areas experiencing particular hardships. The statistics reveal that 18.8% of young people living in rural areas across the 28 EU member states are unemployed, leading to a multitude of personal, economic, and social consequences. Recognizing these challenges, the project aimed to promote youth entrepreneurship as a solution to the economic and social issues plaguing rural areas. The limited opportunities for young people to access information, develop business knowledge and skills, coupled with the lack of financial resources, were identified as major barriers to youth entrepreneurship in rural areas. Thus, the project sought to provide a comprehensive package of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills needed to start a business in rural areas. the project aimed to empower rural youth by providing them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and support to become successful entrepreneurs in their local communities.
