The main objectives of the project were: 1. Personal and professional development 2. Exploration of new teaching methods, as well as Montessori method of education 3. Familiarization with the educational system of the hosting organization (e.g. curriculum, school policies, Montessori implementation, extracurricular activities, examination system and preparation for further education, staff reward and promotion system etc.) 4. Improvement of teachers' language skills 5. Broaden teachers' Network with European colleagues
My colleague, Marios Kyprianou, and I, Evgenia Chatziioannou, participated in a Job Shadowing Program in Liebniz Montessori Gymnasium in Dusseldorf (Germany) for 1 week, from 22 until 26 of August. This time period was chosen by us, with respect to the hosting school availability, keeping in mind that our school was still on summer holiday at that time period, so any rearrangements of our school program would not be necessary. This mobility took place in the context of personal development and training for teachers on educational systems across Europe and the acquaintance with good practices and innovative pedagogical methods. We both participants work in a public Upper-Secondary School in Cyprus (Linopetra Lyceum). Our school, as all the other public upper secondary schools in Cyprus offer the six following different fields of studies: Classical Studies, Foreign Languages / European Studies, Physical Sciences / Technology, Economics, Business and Fine Arts. All students learn English and French and can choose Russian, German, Italian and Spanish as a second language. Our school has participated many times in Erasmus+ , e–Twinning , Euroscola , European Youth Parliament, the Cyprus Friendship Program e.t.c.
