To increase training opportunities by equipping students—with and without learning/cognitive difficulties—with social-emotional learning (SEL) skills through a multimodal approach, embedded in a rigorously conducted effectiveness study. B) To advance scientific knowledge in the field by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis on SEL effectiveness in higher education for students with learning difficulties, and by consulting with stakeholders to enhance relevance and applicability. C) To widely disseminate project results among university administrators and staff and external professionals, and to train them in using project-developed materials and tools. To raise awareness of SEL education and inclusiveness in the wider community. D) To support the growth and development of partner institutions by fostering transnational cooperation within a European consortium, thereby increasing shared knowledge and confidence across all project-relevant domains. E) To raise awareness of Erasmus+ and the project’s aims by engaging the university community, external stakeholders, and the general public through targeted promotional activities.
Socioemotional learning (SEL) equips young people with skills for life, work, and wellbeing. Higher Education (HE) is a natural learning context for SEL, preparing youth for adulthood. Evidence-based SEL curricula in HE are needed for skills like making decisions, collaborating, being prosocial, and managing emotions. SEL must also rest on inclusive principles, promoting learning for all. Existing, validated tools for SEL must be modified, making their implementation successful for students with diverse abilities (e.g. cognitive/learning difficulties or diverse learning styles). A growing literature indicates that incorporating music and digital technology is promising for improving the delivery and effectiveness of SEL for people with cognitive/learning difficulties. The purpose of the project, implemented by the University of Cyprus, University of Crete, Eotvos Lorand University, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Silversky3D was to a) develop research-informed inclusive multimodal SEL, using music and digital tools, and assess its effectiveness for HE and b) build capacity among professionals who provide SEL in HE. c) raise awareness among HE administrators and stakeholders inside and outside the project partnership.
