Objectives

To build tolerance towards cultural diversity and find common European roots throughout the active participation of young people can be a great step towards prevent radicalization of young people Building Interculturality aims to bring together 44 young people from Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Romania in a youth exchange between 02-10/12/2022 which is meant to give them the opportunity to have a first intercultural contact, to exchange ideas, to overcome stereotypes and discover a new culture. The young people was coordinated by 4 group leaders (1/country). The project objectives reached by embarking the young participants in a programme that follows nonformal learning methods, and a structure that promotes continuity and gradual development of the participant in an organic way. The project was starting with an introduction to the context, getting to know each other activities and group building activities, continuing to the main bloc of activities on the topic of intercultural understanding and finalizing with the closure of activity which consists in the drafting of the plan, dissemination package, and certification and final evaluation of participants. The project aimed to promote pluralism, tolerance, respect, and mutual understanding by making connections between various cultural representatives, and exposing them to new religious and ethnic diversity from different countries. During the project, there were introduced several topics: democratic values and mutual understanding, respecting pluralism, breaking stereotypes, promote diversity and making connections; The main focus was at promoting intercultural awareness, social inclusion, and diversity among the young people, while supporting the personal development as global and active citizens. This is achieved through improving young people’s awareness, practices and understanding to better deal with diversity and to appreciate inclusion. The project aimed to raise awareness among young people that cultural differences and multicultural dialogue are not common for them. This experience allowed them to see the different and mutual values of Europe Countries. The multilingual atmosphere played an important role, as the participants were in an environment where everybody spoke different languages. The participants used their native language for better self-expression and to break inter-cultural stereotypes. Additionally, participants developed more respect towards others by using a common language while being part of the group, where everybody spoke the English language. Objectives of the project: - Developing practical knowledge, competences and abilities on what is intercultural understanding and the role of tolerance and judgment free relations in intercultural dialogue. -Increasing the capacity of communication in English and adaptability to intercultural environments. - Raised awareness about the intercultural character of the contemporary world and temper down the excesses of “cultural and national superiority”. -Discovered the issues of social exclusion of young people, understanding them and using tolerance. The more known a problem for society, the greater the chances of overcoming it. -Improving solidarity, diversity, respect and tolerance for young people with fewer opportunities and marginalized groups as a means of overcoming social exclusion. The lower the pressure on vulnerable groups in society, the greater the chances of successful social integration. Within these activities, which are aimed at tackling discrimination, it is imperative to learn about the problems of young people with few opportunities and marginalization of young people. Actions were taken to acquire borders, overcome stereotypes, intercultural exchanges, expand horizons through non-formal education methodology, including in the future. In this project, the crew got into the dissemination of the results, with the project theme being of the utmost important and the extent of a large number of people. The theme of our project was xenophobia and racism, which have created major problems in Europe in recent times. Situations such as xenophobia, Islamophobia, and racism that have emerged as a result of negative prejudices have become one of the main questions of European countries with multicultural and multi-identity structures. Likewise, prejudices and stereotypes often open the way for discrimination. As a content, the project aims to address the most important issues that cause discrimination. For this reason, the experiences of the participating countries play an important role in filling the content of the project. Romania's experience with the Romans can be shown as concrete examples that we can use to describe the content of our project, especially when the Romans are subjected to discrimination, especially in France, and to be pushed out of society. Our main aim was to overcome stereotypes and foster diversity in society.
