We believe that extremely important in working with young people are the soft skills of youth workers, i.e. their personal, communication and social skills, which make them able to diagnose the needs of young people and choose appropriate methods. Another factor determining the effectiveness of youth workers is their openness, flexibility and understanding of diversity. These are the features and skills that are worth developing and improving in people who work with young people. The answer to these needs is training, during which participants developed and strengthen selected soft and intercultural competencies, and also have space to exchange experiences. Strengthening these competencies translated directly into the quality and efficiency of their work, and thus will have a significant impact on the development of young people. A youth worker who is well prepared to work as a facilitator is able to guide a group so that it achieves s/he intended goals, while taking care of the development of each of its members Our main aim was to organize a training to raise the quality of youth exchanges by providing youth workers of partner organizations with necessary competences & tools to train group leader's to support participants in each phase of the project. Another aim of the project was to work on youth capacity building by reflecting on self-confidence, leadership attitudes and measures to fight youth unemployment. The focus of the training was to stimulate participants to see themselves as "youth leaders" able to organize, guide, and manage initiatives in favor of the youth they work with and their local communities. Objectives To improve the capacities of youth workers by providing skills and knowledge in the fields of leadership and individual capacity building; by encouraging reflections about the role and competencies of the youth worker; by inspiring the definition of explicit personal objective to improve their work (self-improvement) To bring participants to adopt an analytical approach to the skill recognition To share good practices and competencies about innovative projects, focusing on the training's thematics To recognize the most important needs youngsters face in the European and national job markets and to find common tools and initiatives "Leadership Skills Development for youth workers" was a training course for youth workers who are willing to develop new methodologies in terms of teamwork, successful communication and designing programme, three fields strictly connected with both ETS Competence Model and Competence Model for Youth Worker to Work Internationally. It proposed the use of a new methodology applied to training in the framework of non-formal education. These three competences are getting a continuous importance in the frame of youth work because teamwork and successful communication represent two essential pillars for the success of all those actions that regards youngsters and their development through the methods of Non Formal Education, methods that need to be shared using the designing of educational programmes that could be effective among youth people. The project was held in Cyprus and bring together 32 Youth Workers from different European organisations from the Programme Countries 4 youth workers per each NGO) who work in the youth field. General aim of the project was to acquire new tools, exchange experiences, improve competences and find innovative methods in the fields regarding the three main topics of the TC to create a final product about the importance of youth work in the programme designing in order to prepare a statement paper to reaffirm the role of youth work and youth workers with stakeholders, decision makers and institutions on local, national and European level. In regards with the priority of youth work, the TC focused on the instruments for youth participation, as the aim of the session was to equip youth delegates, youth workers, representatives of local youth councils and similar participation structures with practical knowledge and skills to foster processes of meaningful youth participation at the local level all around Europe. The job of a leader is not easy but can be so rewarding. Our aim with this project was to deliver the necessary skills to the youth workers that can and are willing to face the challenge of being a leader. This training course started as a solution to an often overlooked need of our young people today. In this world, full of distractions, where values often get mixed and confused, young people struggle to find their way in society. The once clear “role models”, have become very confusing in their message and example. Our main aim was to organize training to raise the quality of youth exchanges by providing youth workers of partner organizations with necessary competences & tools to train group leader's to support participants in each phase of the project. Τhe TC was in line with the European year of skills 2023 !
