EYP Cyprus wanted to carry out the ‘Building Resilience: More than just overcoming crises’ conference within its National Session 2021 project in order to unleash the full potential of its participants, and challenge young people to come up with new, creative solutions to pressing problems faced by the European and global communities. With its theme centered around problems of young individuals, the project encouraged participants to think about solutions to topics such as youth (un)employment, social inclusion, and education, especially now during the Covid-19 crisis where such values have become of increasing importance. The conference aimed to bring young people from all over Cyprus together to discuss and exchange views on topics that directly concern them and emphasise the pressing need for the youth to become more active, and engage in pushing our society on both political, economic as well as social issues. Additionally, it aimed to explore current issues, such as the pandemic, that the EU is facing, and challenge the participants to rethink and evaluate their ideas and take a stance on controversial topics. The theme was incorporated in our project's elements including the conferences’ topics of discussion, in “Discussing Europe”: a panel which welcomed leading speakers in their fields, allowing them to interact with participants and therefore gain a more memorable experience.
