Objectives

We chose 2 study stays in Spain, 1 in Holland and 1 in Latvia. Our goal was to send an international project coordinator to Spain to improve her language level for the purposes of international cooperation. At the same time one colleague teaching Spanish on a methodology-language course for teachers. Another one was colleague , who chose a weekly methodological course focused on teaching new methods in foreign language classes organized in Amsterdam, e.g. Flipped Classroom or Tiered Approach for teaching foreign languages, as she teaches not only English but also German at our school. We planned our last trip to Latvia, specifically to the capital city of Riga in order to practice the Russian language and refresh our teaching methods in this area. Our goal was therefore to increase the motivation of pupils to study foreign languages by engaging in international cooperation through teachers (we hoped that during our stays abroad we would find new contacts and establish cooperation with them), further strengthen the self-confidence of teachers to be involved in an international environment. Unfortunately, due to the international political situation, with NA's approval, we changed Russian for English, in the city of Cork.

Background

We are a primary school with extended music and sports education in the city of Kladno, in the Central Bohemia Region, and we offer teaching in five world languages at our school (in addition to English, also Spanish, French, German and Russian). We are not new to the international environment, we have been working on international projects in the e-twinning environment since around 2010 (for some of our projects we were awarded the European Quality Award and we also won the U4 Energy National Award in Brussels in 2012.) Gradually from this virtual environment, we moved to the programme of student and teacher exchange stays within the Erasmus programme, which we were forced to end as part of the Corona Virus pandemic situation. Last year, 2021, we started the gradual renewal of our activities, first with teachers. We are a school that develops the methodological skills and competences of teachers, not only in the national field, but also internationally. For this reason, we approached all teaching staff at our school with the aim of further education for the needs of the school and our future international cooperation. At the time of submitting the application, 4 foreign language teachers expressed an interest in studying abroad
