These; • Lack of a strategy to integrate migrant and refugee children into education; • Lack of information about the wants and needs of immigrant and refugee families and local residents; • Inappropriate practices related to working with immigrant parents In order to eliminate the deficiencies listed above and to develop our facility in a way that will benefit our students, we aimed to improve in the following points: • To analyze the different and common aspects of our students. • To determine strategies that will ensure the integration of immigrant students and refugees into education. • Creating strategies that will shorten the social adaptation process of students • Learning how to collaborate with immigrant / international parents. • Better understanding of social, linguistic and cultural diversity. • Improvement in effective classroom management skills in the multicultural classroom, • To be able to plan activities for multicultural classrooms that will attract students' attention and increase their motivation.

Background

Our school provides education to students aged 6 to 19 years. Education is divided into primary school and grammar/information technology secondary school (ages 15 to 19). 15% of students do not speak Czech. We provide education to 73 of our 487 students from countries such as Ukraine, Russia, China, Vietnam, Hungary, England, Belarus, Slovakia and Italy. Our teachers had shortcomings in managing the multicultural school population that has grown in the last 5 years. One of the aims of our project was to eliminate these deficiencies. However, the main purpose of our project was to ensure that our students are connected to the school with a sense of belonging, to reduce the grouping caused by multiculturalism in the school and to raise academically successful students. In line with the project, we aimed to improve the professional qualifications of our teachers and increase the success rates of our students, who are the ultimate beneficiaries. With this project, one group of our teachers participated in a structured course called "Color Classrooms: Integration of refugee and migrant children", and another group of teachers participated to course in activity where they analyzed Manage multicultural classrooms.
