We had three different objectives. The first was to strengthen language and communicative competency in English and Spanish both for students and teachers. Based on long-term experience, we knew that mobility is the best way to compel students to use other languages besides their native tongue. The second was the acquisition of new methodology, digitization and use of modern technologies in teaching following the latest trends of the 21st century. We wanted to gain experience and inspiration at home and abroad from inspiring colleagues and institutions. The last goal was the development of socio-cultural awareness, EU identity, creativity, and cooperation. We believe in new ideas and deepening cooperation based on the experience and contacts that were created during our stay abroad.
Our organization feels the need to modernize and innovate our teaching methods, practices, and attitudes towards students, which we use everyday. The aim of our project is to increase the level of individual competencies of students and pedagogical staff, and to develop an understanding between young people not only at home, but also between people from different European countries. Additionally, we have long struggled with a shortage of qualified Spanish teachers. Overall, we have an older teaching staff, which has certain disadvantages such as the lack of teachers able to teach CLIL and incorporate digital technologies, Internet resources and applications to enrich teaching. During the COVID lockdown, many students experienced a reduced motivation after almost a year spent at home, without their peers, and without the possibility of excursions, trips, and experiences abroad.
