We want to ensure that no pupil finds himself on the sidelines of the educational process or outside of it. Such pupils are at increased risk of early school-leaving. At the same time, we want to prevent a situation where talented and gifted pupils are not revealed, which could lead to frustration and demotivation. We were therefore looking for methods to support these talented students and motivate them to study more intensively without neglecting other students. The goal should be a school in which all pupils, average, gifted or with special educational needs, develop according to their abilities and needs.
Our school is a grammar school in a small town. Pupils attend our schools from a relatively large catchment area, and some of them have special educational needs or different cultural background. We have two study programs, a four-year and a six-year, in which there is one class each year, so we belong to smaller schools in terms of size. The study program is generally oriented. These are all reasons why the level of our pupils and also their interests and preferences are very different. Teachers must cope with this situation as good as possible and provide all pupils with adequate educational support. Some pupils from Ukraine attended our classes last year, which increased the demands on the teaching process even more. That is why we focused our project mainly on education in the field of work with a differentiated class. Therefore, we looked for suitable methods and visited foreign schools that inspired us, either through structured courses focused on school visits or job shadowing in partner schools.
