Regarding the teachers´ mobilities, we wanted them to improve their knowledge in the field they teach, learn about different types of management of horticultural companies, about new or different work procedures, technologies and work methods during internships in horticultural enterprises. Then they can transfer it to the educational system of our organization, to their colleagues and to the pupils after their return. This was supposed to lead to changes in the system of professional training and to make horticulture program more attractive in our school. We expected students participating in work placements to improve their key competencies, learn about different work procedures and methods used in foreign companies, and practice the theoretical knowledge acquired during their studies. Furthermore, we wanted them to improve their communication skills in a foreign language, work in a team and take care of themselves in a foreign environment. The English teacher was supposed to learn to work with Microsoft applications during the course in Ireland and then share her skills with colleagues at school. Everyone was supposed to improve their digital skills.
We are the Secondary School of Horticulture and Agriculture in Děčín and we have been participating in the Erasmus program since 2014. Our project from 2021 was a continuation of the foreign professional internships of pupils and teachers carried out in previous years. The intention was to use the possibilities of the Erasmus+ program to implement internships in foreign companies and to increase the professional competence and language skills of pupils and teachers. This plan was based on the school's needs and the long-term goals set in the European School Development Plan. Among the most important needs were the transfer of new teaching and working methods to pupils, quality teaching of foreign languages and improved organization of teaching towards practical skills.
