Objectives

There were some reasons why we wanted this project to be realized. The first of these reasons is our belief that more emphasis should be placed on the concept of democracy. In the society we live in, democracy means the fair administration of societies in the national sense and the minority is not left behind while the voice of the majority is heard. Therefore, a democratic way of life is extremely important not only in elections, but also in our social life. Understanding democracy, which is one of the most important concepts that unite us under the umbrella of the European Union, and spreading this meaning means spreading the values of the European Union. One of the most important conditions for our youth to be active citizens is to vote. Voting means reinforcing democracy and makes each individual aware of how important an actor they are in determining their own future by participating in the decision-making process. Finally, reaching the right news, in connection with the main topic of the project, is of vital importance for the individual to make the right decisions in the process of participating in democracy and voting. Especially the events that have occurred since the Covid-19 epidemic and have created universal results remind us of the importance of reaching the right news. The individual who reaches the right news will be closer to choosing what is good for him as he can make correct evaluations. An important role while preparing this project was a survey which we did in each country and based on that we decided to tackle the problem of the low attendance rate of youngsters. We were confident that the selection of the project as a training course would be instrumental in spreading this awareness and concept among the youth of the workers working with the youth. At the same time, we created an opportunity for both sides to make their voices heard by providing new perspectives by bringing these youth workers together with a politician. We believe that the project was carried out in accordance with the concept of democracy, reaching the right information channels and creating conscious voters. The objectives of the project were: 1) exchange knowledge and practices on how to raise awareness of the importance of participation in local, regional, national and European elections; 2. ensure that youth workers know how to find and apply appropriate knowledge about democracy and European Union politics; 3) teach youth workers how to encourage young people to become active agents of change within their communities and stakeholders shaping a better future for themselves and future generations; 4) lead a social media campaign, sharing videos and survey results prepared by participants to increase social awareness of active citizenship among youth; 5) develop effective tools to promote active citizenship among young people through non-formal education methods.
