The project had two main outcomes. The first output was the creation of a draft international version of the qualification standard for environmental education worker, so that this standard (with minor national modifications) could be included in the national qualification systems in Slovakia, Hungary and in the future in other EU countries. In the Czech Republic we planned to modify the existing standard according to current challenges and trends. The second output of the project was the development and pilot testing of a methodology for a preparatory course to obtain the qualification standard for environmental education staff, such comprehensive training was also missing in all participating countries.
The project responded to a situation where the National Qualification System in the Czech Republic describes the qualification of Environmental Education Worker, but there is no corresponding offer of educational courses that would prepare those interested in obtaining such a qualification comprehensively. In the other partner countries, not only was there a lack of such training activity, but also a lack of similar qualifications within the National Frameworks qualifications, although there are also a number of institutions/facilities/organisations where such staff are employed (e.g. environmental education centres or NGOs providing services within environmental education services, information centres and education departments of protected areas and national parks, zoos, open air museums, education centres, etc.).
