The primary objective of our project is to enhance human rights education, democratic citizenship, peace education, and intercultural learning through innovative and engaging simulation activities. By implementing these longer-term simulation games, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of human rights, social justice, and active citizenship among young people. Our goal is to inspire youth workers and trainers to adopt these methodologies, thereby improving the quality and impact of non-formal education. We also aim to increase youth activism, empower young people to stand up for their rights, and enhance their understanding of issues such as inequality, discrimination, and social exclusion
We applied for this project to address the significant challenges faced by young people in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions imposed during the pandemic severely impacted the ability of young people to engage in social interactions, participate in youth activities, and experience personal growth through intercultural exchanges. Traditional youth work practices were disrupted, and online alternatives failed to meet the core principles of non-formal education. These issues highlighted a need for innovative solutions to reinvigorate youth engagement and activism, especially among disadvantaged groups such as refugees and economically disadvantaged youth. Our project aims to restore the vital aspects of human rights education, intercultural learning, and active citizenship through immersive and engaging educational experiences
