Mobility and transnational co-operation have been an integral part of the daily life of teaching and research at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) for decades. Internationalization is a central part of the target agreement which was signed with the Bavarian Ministry of Education and Science. Advanced students and young academics participate mostly in mobility programmes. In order to enlarge its numerous internationalisation activities in terms of quality and quantity, FAU takes advantage of the many international co-operations in research in order to internationalize teaching and foster mobility. Erasmus is THE key mobility programme. By participating in the Erasmus programme students improve their linguistic and intercultural skills which are decisive factors for success in their future professional career. A combination of research-based education, international orientation and cooperation with external partners define the quality claim of all study programmes at FAU.
