As one of the most renowned and largest music universities in Europe the University of Music and Dance Cologne follows in its internationalization concept two basic strategic goals. First of all - as a counterpart to our own strongly international student body - the exchange with high-ranking partner universities in Europe, but also Asia and the USA is important. We consider our own work in direct connection to our partner universities’ work, as international standards especially apply to the areas of music and dance. On the other hand, we also see opportunities to make use of cultural experience that distinguishes art tradition for us and exchange programmes to pluralize and differentiate our own artistic and educational standards. The selection of partner universities in Europe, Asia and the USA is based on the quality and reputation of each institution. Examples are cooperations with the major music colleges and universities in London, Paris and Vienna, as well as in New York and Tokyo. Basically the aim is to carry out an exchange in a ratio of 1: 1, which means that incomings and outgoings related to the respective universities take place to the same extent.
