Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz perceives itself as an internationally oriented university that actively promotes intercultural learning and exchange. This is outlined in the university’s internationalization strategy based on eight key guiding principles including international partnerships, international mobility, and international studies. The Erasmus+ project is of utmost importance for the implementation of the aforementioned guidelines. It supports the promotion, growth and enhancement of intercultural learning and exchange as the university encourages and supports both employees and students to benefit from and contribute to its internationality. The Erasmus+ project was used to support financially students during study and internship periods abroad (e.g., in programme countries). Moreover, international mobilities of university members were realized. Internationalization was also strengthened through the promotion of short-term teaching appointments and further training opportunities for teaching and administrative staff members abroad. Networking, made possible through the Erasmus+ program also played a major role. Be it through participation in international conferences or local events.
