Objectives

The Erasmus programme plays a central role in achieving the University of Duisburg-Essen’s strategic goals. UDE uses the Erasmus programme in all areas of international and intercultural skills acquisition, such as study abroad periods and work placements abroad, developing curricula with an international slant, and forming a European university network. UDE places a special focus on building and enhancing intercultural and international competencies, expanding the pursuit of equity in education and social inclusion to include international mobility, and counteracting the mechanisms of social selectivity. Effective communication with underrepresented target groups is key to enhancing inclusion while also increasing the number of grant recipients. UDE sees digitalisation as an opportunity to foster the further development of academic teaching and learning and to optimise processes. The digitalisation of teaching and learning can help to create teaching and learning processes that accommodate diversity and make the University more accessible to new target groups, and it facilitates international cooperation in research and teaching.
