One goal was to deepen and expand the trainees' language skills. Due to increasing international contacts within and outside the company, we are required to master and use foreign languages. The Czech language in particular is playing an increasingly important role in Dresden, as numerous guests and tourists from the neighboring country come to Dresden and use the services of DVB AG. The recruitment/development of highly qualified specialist personnel with comprehensive technical/industry knowledge is the focus of the training and was an integral part of the project. By providing international work experience, we wanted to achieve a high degree of flexibility for the young people in all areas of their professional development. Our aim was also to enable the young people to act independently, to take responsibility and to be able to develop individual solutions. The exchange of innovations and experiences is therefore just as much a part of the training and promotes rapid adaptation to the rapid changes and demands in the working world. The interdisciplinary, interdisciplinary training in the project at European level contributed significantly to this.
As the mobility service provider for the city of Dresden, DVB AG transports around 164 million passengers a year, including a large number of tourists and day trippers from the neighboring Czech Republic. Every year, we take on 55 young people for vocational training. We have a total of 163 trainees in 9 apprenticed professions. We offer young people with a migration background the chance of vocational training with subsequent permanent employment. The project is anchored in the vocational training contract as a fixed component of training as a skilled driver and is intended, among other things, to contribute to better understanding with our foreign passengers. Thanks to close relations with the Prague Traffic School and the city's transport companies, which have existed for 20 years, we are able to adapt the project content to changing requirements on the national and international labor market, and to plan and implement appropriate activities. At the same time, we are a host institution in the ERASMUS+ program, thus contributing to the promotion of intercultural competence, international professional experience and exchange with others.
