On a technical level, the participants should learn about methods and designs of wood processing in another country and school. At the same time, they gained an insight into another school system. Some activities required the use of a computer-controlled drawing program. As a result, the digital knowledge was expanded. Another important aspect was the improvement of foreign language skills (listening comprehension, self-expression, vocabulary expansion). On a social level, the participants should learn to find their way around in another European country outside of their own family environment. They spent two weeks in another family with a different caregiver. This required dealing with the circumstances and, if necessary, communicating one's own wishes and needs. In order to do this, it was again necessary to make yourself understood in English. All in all one's own independence should be promoted.
The project involved a cooperation between two vocational schools with a technical focus. Both schools have a very heterogeneous student body, some of which have a high need for support. For example, there was a need for English support at both schools. On the part of the Italian school, the students should be introduced to digital work in particular. For example, Powerpoint presentations should be created in cooperation with the German students. The project includes a mutual exchange of students with visits to the partner school for at least 10 days. Other focal points of the project were dealing with a digital wood processing program and the creation of a wooden workpiece as well as dealing with the sustainability goals of the UN.
