Objectives

The aim of the project was to spread the educational work on food waste and its global impact to other countries in Europe. For this purpose, the cross-border cooperation of the foodsharing groups should be established and promoted and the respective networks should be expanded. In particular, multipliers were to be trained to support foodsharing Luxembourg in addressing the demand for educational offers in the field of food waste.

Background

Food waste is a global issue. In many European countries there are concepts to counter this problem. In Germany, foodsharing was founded in 2012 as an initiative that is considered a model in Europe and has since been adapted by several countries. This is also the case in Luxembourg, where foodsharing Luxembourg was founded in 2019. So far, international exchange between different foodsharing initiatives has hardly taken place. Especially in the field of education, the foodsharing academy in Germany has gained valuable experience and working methods that now need to be disseminated. The aim is to motivate and enable foodsharing Luxembourg to become active in the field of education on food waste.
