Objectives

The project aims to develop and deliver training modules for advisors and agricultural technicians. The aim is to strengthen the link between agricultural practice and market requirements. Based on the values of respect and co-responsibility, sustainable agricultural production methods, environmental protection and a fair economic return will be promoted. The farm-to-fork approach is at the core of all project activities and reflected in the results. The exchange of knowledge between stakeholders from different parts of the agricultural value chain, from producers to consumers, is promoted. This in turn contributes to a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of agricultural advisors and provides input for their professional development. Pilot courses are being conducted, also using modern learning methods on a dedicated online learning platform.

Background

The project partners have worked together in recent years implementing training seminars and networking meetings for different actors in the organic and biodynamic sector in Spain and Germany. As both partners are small organisations, funding was needed to rise the impact and quality of the trainings and networking activities, as well as to foster digitalisation. The main motivation of this project is to contribute with knowledge and experience to a healthier, more fraternal, and loving future for people and nature. The need to promote the conversion to biodynamic and organic agriculture, reducing the use of chemical pesticides, greenhouse gas emissions and unhealthy agricultural practices using biodynamic methods, was identified as a key need to focus on. While interaction between actors within the innovation system (organic/biodynamic farming) is crucial to trigger change, various institutional and political barriers hinder effective collaboration between the different actors. Therefore, the partners aim to help overcome this barriers for Spanish-German relationships in the food value chain using funds of the present project to join skills and knowledge to organise fruitful exchanges and interaction between stakeholders.
