Objectives

The objective of the ADA project is to address gender inequality in entrepreneurship by empowering women, particularly in the digital economy. The project aims to bridge the existing gender gap by providing women with the necessary competences to succeed in business, fostering greater inclusivity and equal opportunities in digital entrepreneurship. By focusing on upskilling and reskilling women, the ADA project seeks to enhance their entrepreneurial capabilities, particularly in areas driven or enabled by digital technology. Special attention is given to women from diverse backgrounds, including immigrant women, to promote their inclusion in the economic and entrepreneurial landscape. The project aims to create flexible and tailored learning opportunities that accommodate the particular needs of adult women, facilitating their professional development and encouraging them to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. It also seeks to foster a supportive ecosystem for women entrepreneurs, promoting collaboration, networking, and knowledge-sharing, while helping them adapt to the demands of an increasingly digitalized economy.

Background

The rapid advancement of digitalisation in recent years has significantly increased the demand for jobs and entrepreneurship in the digital economy. Despite this growth, women remain underrepresented in this sector across most EU countries. While numerous initiatives have been launched in the last decade to empower women and provide new employment opportunities, gender inequalities in accessing business opportunities still persist in many areas of Europe. Although more women are choosing self-employment, female entrepreneurs in the digital economy DiEc) are still in the minority, and the notion of "female entrepreneur" in the digital sector is not yet fully established. ADA directly addresses this issue, aiming to encourage women to pursue entrepreneurship in the DiEc and thereby contribute to reducing the gender gap. Through tailored educational offerings, practical support, and encouragement, the project seeks to empower women to starttheir own businesses by providing them with the necessary tools. To achieve this, ADA team developed an online training program focused on digital, entrepreneural and business skills hosted on a virtual platform. It also serve as a space for networking and mentorship.
