Technological advancements have eased our lives, especially through tools that organize, manage, and automate work&household routines. Smart home automation has simplified household processes for many. However, seniors' readiness to embrace, understand&build these solutions is crucial. Retired, seniors often seek meaning in life, feeling isolated and unfulfilled. Engaging in new hobbies or learning skills that stimulate interest&enhance critical thinking can be beneficial. The SmartHome4SENIORS project addressed this by providing smart home solutions tailored to seniors‘ needs, improving daily routines, safety&comfort, and helping manage homes despite impairments. Seniors, especially those living alone, can avoid isolation&find new purpose through these technologies. The project also aimed to bridge the knowledge gap, as understanding smart home functionalities can be challenging. SmartHome4SENIORS guided seniors with basic ICT skills into the world of DIY smart home solutions. The project involved seniors and volunteers/staff tutoring older people, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills&knowledge. The project helped seniors maintain control over their households while fostering a sense of ownership&participation in civic life
