Objectives

The primary objective of the project was to develop educators' digital competences and promote video education as a key tool for teaching. This involved equipping educators with the skills and resources necessary to create high-quality video content for use in vocational settings particularly in the growing field of renewable energy technologies. More specifically, VideoTeach aimed to: - Provide rural teachers with the digital skills and tools needed to create video-based educational materials, thereby bridging the digital divide and enabling these teachers to engage in modern teaching methods. - Enhance education in the green industry by developing video-based methodologies and tools. This focus on renewable energy aimed to make complex topics more accessible and to increase both knowledge and awareness in this field. - Support rural teachers' professional development by recognizing their digital learning outcomes, offering structured training, and creating a EU CV to enhance career growth and mobility. Finally, VideoTeach aimed to foster international collaboration and promoted best practices in digital education. This ensured a lasting impact on educational practices and contributed to the sustainability of digital learning.

Background

The VideoTeach project was launched to address skill gaps in video education within vocational education and training (VET). The partners, who had been working for years in both video education and the green industry, recognized a growing need to equip teachers with the skills to effectively integrate videos into digital teaching, a need intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic highlighted the rapid shift to digital learning and the increasing role of online video in education, revealing gaps in teachers' digital skills and resources. The need analyses conducted when preparing the application, showed that many teachers wanted/feel the urgency to improve their digital skills, particularly in creating digital content; this need was even stronger in rural areas. Teachers also required better support in terms of training, recognition of competencies, and clearer guidelines for integrating technology into their teaching. Apart from that, the project aimed to address the shortage of engaging educational materials in the emerging field of renewable energy. VideoTeach also responded to this gap by creating video content that simplifies energy-related complex topics which could be applied in VET schools.
