Objectives

The core project activities aimed to develop and implement an innovative digital training and mentorship program with the following objectives: - Create an enabling educational environment that cultivates and enhances young artists' and creatives' entrepreneurship skills, while preserving their creativity and innovative problem-solving approaches. - Develop and implement a well-mentored digital training model designed to bridge the entrepreneurial skills gaps for young artists and creative industry professionals. This model aims to equip them with essential marketing, management, and networking skills needed to plan, establish, run, and sustain a social enterprise. - Develop and implement innovative pilot training tools and practical models to foster networking and collaboration between the arts sector and the social enterprise sector across Europe. - Foster international cooperation and networking among artists, VET training providers, entrepreneurs, academics, business leaders, decision-makers, private and public training centers, and chambers of commerce. This collaboration is intended to benefit artist-led social enterprises.

Background

Young artists in Europe face significant challenges in accessing entrepreneurship information and skills, exacerbated by inadequate formal education and cultural stereotypes that disconnect artists from business activities. The COVID-19 crisis further highlighted these issues, severely impacting the arts sector and making freelance work in the creative industry even more difficult. To combat these challenges, the SE4A social entrepreneurship course was created, using digital tools to help young artists become social entrepreneurs who positively impact their communities. This pilot program aimed to empower young artists across the EU by fostering innovation, entrepreneurial skills, and creativity for social benefit. SE4A emphasized non-formal learning, mobility, and youth engagement, addressing market barriers and equipping artists with essential skills for effective exhibition, marketing, and collaboration. The program offered certified training, coaching, and mentorship, and established a pan-European e-contemporary art space for virtual exhibitions. It involved young artists, senior students, and stakeholders, aiming to create lasting impacts at local, national, and European levels through strong consortium partnerships.
