The project INTRuST, addresses experts from furniture-related companies, forest operators, companies' employees and managers dealing with wood certifications interested in increasing their skills and competencies, VET providers, training organizations, and educators providing training programs related to wood and forest certifications. Besides this primary objective, other specific purposes are: Increase the knowledge, skills, and attitudes on climate change and sustainable development in VET by designing new curricula on environment-related strategies and certifications adapting for VET provisions according to the skills needs of the addressing sectors and contribute to the validation of non-formal learning, Improve the digital readiness of wood and furniture manufacturers by developing specific industry 4.0 training in the forest and wood value chain, To develop and test a digital guidance tool allowing industries to know suitable certification schemes, and appropriate training content, contributing to the promotion of flexible and permeable pathways, To deliver the training through an e-learning platform (MOOC) in different EU languages, provide interactive learning materials with a multidisciplinary approaches.
Timber and wood commerce has had a great value in the European Union for ten years. In this regard, the primary and secondary transformation of wood industries like woodworking and furniture sectors are considered. Although Europeans are resource consumers at twice the speed, 30% of the wood used in the EU comes from countries where illegal logging and partial deforestation are usual. Then, certified forests, wood and products, eco-design, and circular economy are the most appropriate tools to deal with these problems. In recent years, sustainable forest management regarding climate change has been an issue of sensitive world public opinion. Well-managed forests have an enormous potential to reach sustainability and a green economy. Also, concerning the economic potential of I4.0 in forestry and application I4.0 examples on the process level, as well as the value of I4.0 mainly located on the interconnection of process steps along the value chain can lead to significant changes and value-adds in harvest planning, harvest organization control, logistics as well as timber sales. Moreover, modeling's development of simulation regarding remote sensing data in forestry comes into view.
