Through the application-oriented project results (Online training, manual, tool-box), the special challenges, knowledge as well as skills of VET institutions in refugee integration are communicated. This improves the external quality assessors' understanding of refugee integration, which ensures that evaluation and recognition can be carried out. This in turn leads to feedbacks that can then be used for quality improvement in a next step. Consequently, the project results support quality improvement of the work of the external quality assessors and the stakeholders in the evaluated VET institutions. The project results thus contribute to the mission of European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training (EQAVET), which promotes the implementation of quality standards for VET in Europe.
The social inclusion of refugees is currently a highly relevant topic. The Covid pandemic is leading to a worsening of inequality in the world, so that increased flows of refugees to Europe can be expected in the future. Vocational education and training (VET) offers great potential for the successful integration of refugees into society and the labour market, as cultural, social and economic integration is possible. However, VET institutions are also confronted with challenges (e.g. language barriers, social problems, heterogeneous educational background and coordination challenges) that require specific framework conditions, knowledge and skills. In the previous Erasmus+ project "GoodVET", quality indicators could already be identified to enable good work in refugee integration through VET. In the Erasmus+ project "Recognition of Good VET practices for refugees" ("RecoVET"), these quality indicators are to be transferred into an external evaluation and recognition concept in order to be able to examine and recognise the quality of work with refugees externally. The target group consists of public and private evaluation institutions. The external recognition of quality in the integration of refugees creates trust and appreciation, so that "RecoVET" contributes not only to quality improvement within the institutions but also to an increase in external reputation and promotes the social inclusion of refugees. Due to the EU-wide applicability of the project results, a positive impact on the inclusion of refugees throughout Europe is expected.
