The main aim of our project was to promote climate protection at our school and to raise awareness among the students of the French learning group 8ad for issues related to environmental protection. For this purpose, it was also important to find out what the municipality of Rimbach and our school have already done and are already doing for climate protection. In order to make progress in the area, it was also a major goal for us to find extracurricular partners or role models. As part of the project, the first French school exchange organised by our school since the beginning of the corona pandemic took place. To resume the relationship with the Collège in Thourotte, twin town of Rimbach, and to enable joint activities and thus to enrich each other was a special concern for us, since there have already been some student encounters between our school and the Collège Clotaire Baujoin in Thourotte.
The Martin Luther School Rimbach has already promoted climate protection in many areas. In particular, our former colleague Herwig Winter has done this, for example, by ensuring that a 5kwP photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of our school. From time to time there are projects in different subjects, e.g. in the biology lessons, which have the environmental protection as a goal, however not yet in the French lessons. There is a long tradition of exchange trips at our school. The goal has long been for all 8th graders to participate in a school exchange with French or Hungarian schools. Since the Corona pandemic, the exchanges have been suspended. We have also lost exchange schools due to a change of teachers to another school. It is our goal to find new partner schools in France and also to revive the Hungarian exchange. There is a town twinning between Rimbach and Thourotte, which was established after the first student exchange between the two schools, MLS and Collège Clotaire Baujoin in Thourotte. The 40th anniversary will be celebrated in year 2023.
