Together with our partner schools, we wanted learners to define and understand the term "sustainability" for themselves and their schools especially for areas that need a more sustainable approach. Getting engaged in international conversations on sustainability and biodiversity, they increased their environmental awareness. They developed a deeper connection to nature and found innovative ideas and solutions to sustainable issues. By taking actions to protect and enjoy nature together, discovering ways together to "recharge and find relaxation in nature" as well as by consolidating, applying as well as by articulating and disseminating all this knowledge, we enabled learners to raise awareness about sustainability assuming responsibility for themselves, for others and for the environment. Getting engaged in various international conversations and learning processes, we offered the learners great possibilities to improve their language and digital skills in authentic learning situations and to gain intercultural experience also promoting tolerance and respect. Being involved in the project's activities, the learners supported active and democratic citizenship and became understanding, responsible citizens advocating sustainability
As a secondary school, it is our responsibility to encourage our learners to develop themselves in a way that ideally prepares them for the challenges they will encounter in both their professional and private lives. On the one hand, they are part of a technology-based world and our certified MINT school wants them to even more rapidly increase their digital skills, which, on the other hand, makes them appreciate non-digital activities to "recharge their batteries". A school-wide stress-survey undermines this point. Our learners' world is also a world which becomes more and more global, whereas the area of Calw-Stammheim is a rather rural and remote area offering rather limited possibilities to practice foreign languages and to gain intercultural experience. Even if we are located in the middle of nature, we do not appreciate nature round us enough and terms like "leading sustainable lifestyles" and "appreciating nature round us" haven't been that present in everyday lives. Reconstruction works going on on the campus have enhanced the school's motivation to create an environmentally friendly school that enables the school community to maintain a sustainable lifestyle allowing us to successfully tackle the challenges of the future.
