The aim was to use developments in the context of energy production, which is associated with the exploitation of our living space and nature, as a didactic tool to explain the causes, consequences and consequences of our everyday energy consumption. On the one hand, the aim was to use developments in the context of energy production, which goes hand in hand with the exploitation of our living space and nature, as a didactic tool to make the causes, consequences and effects of our everyday energy consumption comprehensible and thus to use natural resources as a didactic tool. We also wanted to demonstrate the traditions, art and history of our region and share them with other Europeans or, conversely, get to know their cultural treasures, so that awareness leads to mutual respect and appreciation of the space in which we live.
Our school is a grammar school with a bilingual branch, which has been gradually built up for four years now. This school year, we have our ninth graders in their fourth year of learning in the bilingual branch and would like to continue to expand our teaching and learning activities in this area and broaden our wealth of experience. The subjects Biology and History are taught in English in our bilingual branch. For this reason, the topics were also situated and carried out with a focus on these areas. Furthermore, the school is a representative of a "School without Racism, School with Courage" and has been integrating refugee children or newly arrived children from all over Europe since 2015. This integration promotes an inclusive and respectful approach to diversity in school and lessons. This is followed by various environmental projects, in which teachers in which teachers, pupils and students of RWTH Aachen University are involved as engineers without borders. Our project and the exchange connected to it also served to overcome linguistic, cultural and individual borders in a future-oriented way, communicative competence and problem-solving strategies were developed in the European idea.
