Youth Power Germany was founded with the aim of empowering youth to overcome challenges and realise their full potential. Next to our local activities, Erasmus+ programme has proven to be a great tool in our work on inclusion as well as on the personal and professional development of our youngsters. As an NGO, we grow much faster and have a high level of organisational capacity as we learn from our European partners: they share their knowledge and resources with us. A lot of this support and exchange happened because of the existence of the EU projects. When our youngsters participate in the youth exchange, they are excited as they meet other youngsters from Europe, as they don’t usually have the opportunity to travel and meet people outside of their community. They are also empowered as they explored the topics they are interested in. Our youth workers are dedicated to their youngsters but sometimes because of the amount of their daily work is difficult sometimes to be creative and innovative. But they are willing to learn, improve their work and create new activities with and for youngsters. We noticed that after participating in the Mobility for youth workers they return with new knowledge, skills, motivation and creativity. For these reasons, we were eager to have KA1 accreditation in order to open up our activities to cross-border exchange and cooperation and to implement learning mobility activities on a regular basis. YP DE is established and works in Berlin and Berlin region, working with youth and youth with fewer opportunities. Mostly, these youngsters are without adequate parental care, face economic obstacles, face discrimination as they belong to LGBTIQ+ minorities and/or cultural minorities as they are immigrants or have migrant backgrounds. Also, some of our activities involve young women who face domestic violence. They have diverse challenges and also have diverse interests, and this is why our objectives are also diverse. We want to be able to provide them with various activities they can choose from according to their interest and needs, in order to support them in their transition to adulthood. Our specific objectives in the application for KA1 accreditation were: Objective 1: To empower youngsters for active and life-long learning, self-improvement and active participation in society, through non-formal learning opportunities on local and international level. Objective 2: To promote physical and mental wellbeing and healthy living habits. Objective 3: To engage youngsters to become active participants/citizens in the society by exploring topics they are interested in. Objective 4: To fight online and offline discrimination and hate speech and promote equal opportunities, human and LGBT rights. Objective 5: To promote tolerance, acceptance and intercultural dialogue and diversity. Objective 6: To promote volunteering as a tool for learning and positive change. Objective 7: To promote, and contribute to constant improvement and innovation in the NFE in youth field and lifelong learning. Objective 8: To promote and engage our youngsters in topics of European citizenship, European awareness and Democracy. Objective 9: To raise employability and entrepreneurship competences of our youngsters. Objective 10: To raise the level of media and digital literacy of youngsters, through participation in online, face-to-face and blended learning educational programs. Our overall objectives were to raise the quality of youth work in our organisation, raising the professional and personal development of our youngsters as well as our youth workers. Also, we want to extend our partnerships and network to new organisations, sharing examples of good practices and learning from others. Mobilities of youth and youth workers are a way to expand our work as we feel and act as a part of the global community that is dedicated to improve the life of youngsters on their local level.
