Objectives

Our project primarily aimed to open new perspectives and provide fresh opportunities for disadvantaged youth, mainly from program and partner countries, who face a multitude of challenges such as limited life prospects, stress, social pressure, identity issues, health impairments, and similar difficulties through international youth work. Our intention was to strengthen the intercultural competencies of the participants and advocate for an inclusive society by organizing youth exchanges and professional mobility in the youth sector. Within the framework of project financing, we conducted a total of 16 activities that addressed the following key topics: environmental protection, sustainability, social inclusion, civic engagement, the development of the digital world, and peacebuilding. We placed particular emphasis on promoting young people who had little to no experience with non-formal educational opportunities or had not participated in international youth groups before. In our work, we highlighted the importance of participatory and practice-oriented methods for the development of the individual strengths of these young people and professionals. Our central concern was to sustainably strengthen the participation of disadvantaged young people. In total, 370 participants from 20 countries took part in our projects, including 54 from remote regions. Our targeted outreach attracted young people from disadvantaged educational and social backgrounds from Berlin. We established close links between our international activities and local projects and initiatives on-site, including the Community Factory Osloer Str in Germany, projects by CHANCE - Education, Youth, and Sports gGmbH, the BDP Bund Deutscher PfadfinderInnen in Frankfurt/Main and Berlin, as well as cooperation with local administration in Armenia. This networking led to synergies that extended beyond the project period and achieved a sustainable impact of our activities. The collaboration with foreign partner organizations was intensified, resulting in a threefold increase in the number of partners. These partner organizations contributed to expanding our knowledge, deepening our accumulated experiences, and supporting us during challenging times, such as staff turnover and coping with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine. The preparation, organization, and financial management of our international projects were supported by European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers. These volunteers had the opportunity to interact with young people from other countries and benefit from international experiences. ESC volunteers provided valuable support in areas such as public relations, dissemination of results, and quality assurance. In this way, we created successful synergies between the two programs, the European Solidarity Corps, and Erasmus+.
