Youth participation activities 'Friends of the Nature' originated from a situation in the world that is dealing with various ecological challenges and low ecological awareness among citizens. Similar situations could also be identified in partner countries of this project. The aim was to bring together participants from countries with different ecological awareness among citizens, inspiring each other and sharing good practices in the field of ecology, sustainable development, and active youth participation. The project met the following annual priorities: Creativity and entrepreneurship and promoted the environment, social inclusion, and active youth participation, achieving the following objectives: increasing the ecological awareness of the participants and the local community, strengthening participants' understanding of sustainable development, developing participants' knowledge in the field of green life, encouraging young people to become active citizens who care about the environment and future generations, providing participants with insights into the reality of their countries, developing participants' communication, language, and intercultural skills and competencies, and enhancing participants' photography skills through practical work on photo stories that aimed to inspire others to become active citizens and promote a green lifestyle and the protection of nature. Through various activities, the project tackled themes such as urban/rural development and the environment, providing young people with more information about ecological issues, Millennium Development Goals, and the protection of nature. The project addressed the theme of urban/rural development in the context of living a more sustainable and green lifestyle in different environments, making young people aware that they could take steps leading to change and become actively involved in the life of their community and support responsible growth. These themes also opened discussions about active youth participation and the role of young people in the lives of their local communities. The project aimed to develop skills and competencies in participants necessary for future community leaders, including using natural sources, promoting sustainable and green lifestyles, and raising discussions on topics that concerned them. The project had several objectives, including raising awareness of young people about recycling and environmental protection, reconnecting young people to nature and promoting their participation in outdoor activities, fostering creative thinking and expression through art and new technologies, promoting the value of intercultural dialogue as a means for promoting cooperation and collective spirit, and promoting the idea of European citizenship towards the environment.
