Objectives

Our aim was to equip youth leaders and workers with tools to integrate climate justice and sustainability into non-formal youth work. By leveraging Global Citizenship Education, we sought to promote diversity, inclusion, and active participation in educational materials on climate change in youth work, helping youth workers to address young people from diverse social backgrounds. Ultimately, our objective was to increase awareness of climate justice and sustainability, foster critical thinking, and empower young people to become agents of change as global citizens.

Background

Our decision to apply for this project was driven by the need to address climate change and involve youth from diverse social backgrounds more actively in sustainability efforts. Recognizing the profound impact of climate change on our planet and the importance of taking action, particularly in alignment with Goal 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we launched the "I-YES: Inclusive Youth Engagement for Sustainability - Tools for Youth Leaders" project. We aimed to make a meaningful contribution by integrating climate justice and sustainability topics into non-formal youth work across Europe. Given the limited accessibility and integration of educational materials on climate change in youth work and the need to enhance the qualifications of youth leaders, our project has significantly contributed to improving the situation. Through collaboration with partners from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, and Romania, we aimed to empower and equip youth leaders with essential tools and skills, and foster environmental activism among young people. Leveraging Global Citizenship Education, our project aimed to instill values of environmental responsibility and empower youth to make positive changes within their communities.
