Objectives

In our application we referred to the research done by Bennyé Austring & Mikkel Snorre Wilms Boysen, who have investigated concerning 6 different parameters: • Foreign language speaking • Knowledge about other countries • Understanding of democracy and human rights • Personal development • Art-based learning • Inclusion and motivation of young people. First of all we are dealing with learning-motivation, which is decreasing especially for the teenage boys, and this + inclusion are the overall topics, as the young people won't learn, if they are bored and non-motivated. Former Danish professor in pedagogics Lene Tanggaard once wrote: "You learn the best, when you don't know, you're learning", and this is absolutely, what we're doing.

Background

Sophieskolen is the largest school in Guldborgsund Municipality and has been the leading force in the international school-cooperation "Exchanges for All", which had the launch in November 2014. Already in 2013 at the final conference in Nykøbing F (DK) for an Interreg South-Baltic project named CreatLearn Sophieskolen did suggest to continue the international cooperation with a focus on 3 different actions: 1) Free international art-based mobilities for the students in school-time 2) Workshops in schools with artists from another country 3) Teacher-swob and we now have reached far especially concerning the student-mobilities, which we are implementing each year in May and in September for 8th graders (age 14) in order to equip them for the Global Village and the rapidly changing World. The law for Danish public schools says, that "it must provide an understanding of other countries and cultures", and due to this we have a.o. taken part in the international school-cooperation "Exchanges for All" since the start in 2014, and we want to give as many of our students as possible the chance of international learning during a mobility-project.
